Egg Box Bespoke Logo Design

My lovely sister-in-law is quite the farmers wife and has her own sheep, chickens, ginormous vegetable garden - as well as helping my brother with his logging business. So what perfect easter present than a bespoke illustrated label for her free range eggs!

When I started making them I couldn't decide which illustration I preferred so I showed her both designs and together we've gone for the larger wreath with the more delicate chicken drawing inside.

Happy Easter!

New Logo Design

I've been working on a new project to design a logo for a childrens nursery, the brief was to design a logo which painted the scene of a countryside setting with horses nearby.

The front door is a lovely duck egg blue which led the beginning of the design, using a similar colour for the leaves and the heart - the window detailing on the house even uses a small hint of green to complete the design.

I created this by drawing and painting a few elements and then enhancing these digitally - the house is a mixture of both, but the horses and flowers show a definite hand drawn detail.

I'm happy to say that the logo was well loved and has been used throughout the marketing for the new business! Hurrah! Click here to see the final logo and all the small details which add a personal touch to the website.. http://www.poppies-daycare.co.uk

Here is an invitation i created a while ago for a little dinner party we held in our cabin in the woods..! The theme was floral and colourful to fit in with the evening summer dinner.

What if you fly?

I adore this quote! I love handwriting quotes and then decorating them as much as possible. This was a simple wreath design taken from my sketchbook and the quote was added afterwards.

100 Day Drawing Challenge

After watching 'The Big Painting Challenge' on BBC1 recently, which shows a group of artists complete a painting every week to ultimately find a winner, I couldn't help feel the whole programme was a tad unfair. Each artist had their own style and were often criticised as they did not conform to the judges expectations, this seemed absurd to me as obviously everyone has their own way of painting or drawing, how can we really judge each style? In my opinion everyone's individuality should be celebrated and not judged, this is what makes us all unique.

I've worked at many creative roles and in my honest opinion, it is a bit painful to be told to change your style. I remember once creating a splash page (the first page you see when going to a website) but when I showed my boss what I had created, she ummed and aahed before giving me constructive criticism. Obviously not everything you ever create will be amazing, but small remarks can stay with you.

With this in mind, I'm now going to celebrate my own style and hope to increase my confidence with drawing. I've realised that I need to build my confidence and have more belief in myself, so as of today I'm going to complete a 100 day drawing challenge. I've seen a few different versions online which give you set examples of what to draw on each specific day, but I'm going to draw whatever I fancy.

Here is day one, wish me luck!
